Nissan considers shifting Leaf production from UK, still upset over Olympic Games

Well this is getting pretty annoying. Instead of just admitting and congratulating BMW for winning the contract with the London Olympic Games Committee, which means that it will deliver 4,000 cars for the officials, athletes and press members during the 2012 London Olympic Games, Nissan is still complaining.
After saying that it could’ve provided a fleet comprised of many electric vehicles, like its upcoming Leaf model, and that the fleet’s CO2 emissions would’ve been way under the maximum threshold, Nissan is now claiming that the decisions of the London organizers may force it to produce the new Leaf in another country, instead of building it in the UK, as was originally planned.
Nissan’s Sunderland plant is still set to produce batteries for the Leaf, but is now facing a stiff opposition from the factory in Portugal, which is also going to be making batteries for the future electric car. Nothing is for certain though, but if it will happen, Nissan will truly become a sore loser in the eyes of the UK public.
