Very rare Jaguar XJ220S up for auction
A very rave Jaguar XJ220S will be soon auctioned in Arizona and it is expected to grab between $225,000 and $300,000. The regular XJ220 was manufactured in only 350 units while this extremely rare XJ220S had a production run of only 6 units.
The Jaguar XJ220S was developed with the help of Tom Walkinshaw Racing who ditched the aluminum body of the original model and used instead superlight carbon fiber. Aside from this, the XJ220S features wider sills, a front splitter and an adjustable rear spoiler. Thanks to the use of lightweight materials, the car has a curb weight of only 2,200 lbs (1,000 kg).
The one which will be auctioned is wearing the chassis number 784 and it had the same owner for the last 8 years. Originally, the car had a V6 power unit that generated 680 hp (689 PS / 507 kW) and a maximum torque of 526 lb.-ft (712 Nm), but TWR installed a new titanium exhaust system along with doing a bunch of other updates that increased the output of the engine to 700 hp (709 PS / 521 kW).
